Italian GT superstar Fabio Babini made the most of very tricky track conditions at Monza today in GT2 qualifying. After steady rain in both free practice sessions the temperature rose, the track dried and the Scuderia Ecosse team got the slicks out for the late afternoon qualifying session. Fabio secured 5th on the grid and 10th overall with a time of 1:51.137 and will start the race as the lead Pirelli car in the GT2 field.

After qualifying Fabio said “It has been a good day and improvements were made every time we left the pits. Considering the mixed weather conditions all day, the team made the right decisions with set up of the car and I am feeling very confident for the race.”

Scuderia Ecosse team principal Stewart Roden said as the session finished, ”I am very pleased with our grid position-we went with a conservative set up for qualifying and once our final race settings are in place, I am confident that we will be in good shape for a podium position tomorrow.”
